Iyal Basen

Iyal has been part of the Beth Emeth family for 17 years. They first got to know the office by helping their mother as her unofficial assistant when she worked there, later became a religious school teacher, and have now come full circle as Beth Emeth’s Administrative Assistant. They help keep the front office running, support members and visitors, and handle the many details behind congregational life.

Outside the office, Iyal performs as Áyal, a singer-songwriter, actor, and drag queen known for theatrical rock, live vocals, and plenty of glitter. They speak English, Hebrew, Spanish, and French and have been known to turn their love of game shows into Hebrew lessons.
