“The Book of Nehemiah”

Much of this prophet’s book is told in his own first-person voice. This makes this sacred Hebrew text feel less like ancient history, and more like a friend’s memoir telling you about the hard, hopeful work of rebuilding the city of Jerusalem. Nehemiah’s prophecy is a great scriptural story for anyone who has ever tried to repair something broken. The prophet Nehemiah has much to teach us about effective community building, and hope after destruction.
