Rabbinic Intern Spencer Mandell to Join CBE as Assistant Rabbi

It is with great joy and pride that I share wonderful news with our congregation. Beginning July 1, 2026, our beloved Rabbinic Intern, Spencer Mandell, will join Congregation Beth Emeth as our Assistant Rabbi.
Over the past three years, we have had the privilege of getting to know Spencer and witnessing his remarkable growth as a rabbinic leader. From the bimah to the classroom, from pastoral moments to joyful celebrations, Spencer has brought thoughtfulness, warmth, and deep commitment to Jewish life. He has built meaningful relationships across generations and has become a trusted and caring presence within our community.
Spencer’s ability to connect so naturally with our community, combined with his dedication to learning and service, has made a lasting impact on CBE. We are excited to see him continue this journey with us in an expanded role and are confident that he will be a wonderful clergy partner to Rabbi Weitzman and our new Cantor.
We are grateful that Spencer has chosen to continue his rabbinic path here at Beth Emeth, and we look forward to all that the future holds as we grow together as a community.
Please join me in congratulating Spencer on this next chapter and in welcoming him to his new role as Assistant Rabbi. We hope you will join us on Wednesday, June 17 for our Annual Meeting as we affirm Spencer's role as Assistant Rabbi. We are excited for this next chapter in Beth Emeth's long history of clergy who serve our wonderful community.
Warmly,
Robin Sobol, CBE President
A Message from Spencer
I am filled with excitement as I look ahead to continuing my journey at Congregation Beth Emeth as your Assistant Rabbi. Over the past three years as a rabbinic intern, this congregation has become my spiritual home, a place of Jewish learning, spiritual growth, and deeply connected relationships. Singing songs with little learners at the religious school, teaching teens in the Teen Leadership Club (TLC), and working with the clergy team helping to lead worship services, and other lifecycle moments reminds me how incredibly lucky I am to serve a community with such a rich history and vibrant heart.
Getting to know Beth Emeth across generations has been a profound gift. From teaching Torah and helping lead worship to sharing in moments of celebration and transition, I have come to appreciate how meaningful Jewish life becomes when we seek understanding together. I am especially excited to continue learning and growing alongside Rabbi Weitzman, our clergy team, and the Board as we shape the future of this community together.
Rooted in Reform Judaism and guided by liberal Jewish values, I believe our tradition thrives when it is lived in relationship. I look forward to deepening connections, nurturing inclusive and thoughtful Jewish learning, and growing here with you for many years to come. It is truly an honor to serve as your rabbi.
With gratitude,
Spencer Mandell
