CBE President: Growing Together

“Every blade of grass has its angel that bends over it and whispers, ‘Grow, grow.’”
- Midrash
Spring arrives quietly at first. A little more light in the evening, a few brave buds pushing their way through the soil, the gentle reminder that even after the longest winter, new life always finds its way forward.
In Judaism, we understand this deeply. We are a people who believe in renewal. Each new day offers the opportunity to begin again, to reflect, to grow, and to move forward with intention. Spring invites us to notice that renewal not only in nature, but within ourselves and within our congregation.
As we move through this season, we also prepare to celebrate Passover in April. Passover reminds us of the power of freedom, of telling our story, and of the importance of gathering around the table together. It is a holiday that connects generations, encourages meaningful conversation, and reminds us that even after hardship, hope and possibility remain.
At Congregation Beth Emeth, I see new growth everywhere. In our learning, in our worship, and in the connections being formed between longtime members and those just beginning their journey here. Our community continues to grow stronger because of the care, generosity, and heart that so many of you bring.
This season is also a beautiful time to try something new. Maybe it’s attending a program you’ve never been to before, joining a committee, coming to a Shabbat service you’ve been meaning to experience, or simply introducing yourself to someone new at an oneg. As Pirkei Avot teaches us, you are not required to complete the work, but neither are you free to step away from it. Every small step matters.
Spring reminds us that growth doesn’t happen all at once. It happens slowly, intentionally, and often together. When we show up - even just a little more - we help nurture something beautiful.
May this season bring you hope, warmth, and moments of joy. May we continue to grow as individuals and as a congregation, strengthening the bonds that make Beth Emeth such a special home.
