9.2.2024 Israel Letter
Dear Congregation Beth Emeth Family,
Yesterday we were devastated to wake up to the news that six hostages were murdered at the hands of Hamas: Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American citizen, and Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Ori Danino, Almog Sarusi, and Alexander Lobanov. Yet again, another reminder of the painful anguish we have felt for our people since October 7th.
We continue to pray for the safe return of the remaining hostages in Gaza to their families and hope for a swift resolution to this ongoing war.
As our URJ leadership wrote so eloquently, “No more families should suffer the pain felt today by the Goldberg-Polins and the families of Carmel, Eden, Ori, Almog, and Alexander. The memories of those murdered by Hamas will be a blessing, always. We pray for comfort for the bereaved and strength for the hostages still held captive.” We invite you to read this statement by the URJ (Reform Movement) Leadership and know that there are more resources for you available on our website.
We are aware that this is a time of great distress for many of you, please know that your clergy are here for you. We encourage you to reach out if you wish to talk with any of us.
